• Hilary Duff opened up about her "complicated" family and why she wrote about them on her new album.
  • Hilary is estranged from her sister, Haylie Duff, who she hasn't been seen with since 2019.
  • The singer's feud with Haylie has been put into the spotlight amid the "Toxic Mom Group" drama.

Hilary Duff is coming clean (heh). The singer / living legend made some rare comments about her estranged family members in an interview with Glamour, explaining why she wrote about them on her album, luck…or something.

"That’s my family," she said. "Those are the people that affect you the most, take up the most space naturally as a human who’s born into something."

Hilary added, "Just because you’re born into a family doesn’t mean that it always stays together. You can only control your side and your street…. I’ve had a very complicated life, and my parents had a very complicated thing. I know it’s not rare, and I think it goes back to the theme of, Why share now? I guess I just felt ready."

Hilary and her sister, Haylie Duff, haven't been photographed together since 2019, Hilary told Rolling Stone she'd been through "family drama" back in December, and she just dropped a new song called "We Don't Talk," which fans thinks is about the estrangement.

Meanwhile, Haylie has been photographed hanging with Ashley Tisdale following her essay in The Cut titled "Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group," which everyone thinks was about—in part—Hilary.

Oh, and speaking of that essay, Haylie went ahead and "liked" it on Instagram....just saying!
